Black History Month Art Contest
Contest
In celebration of Black History Month, the Village of Brown Deer Special Events Committee with the Department of Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the School District of Brown Deer, is sponsoring a Student Art Contest to display works of art created by students enrolled in the School District of Brown Deer. Students have the opportunity to submit their original artwork that represents their view of Black History,either past or present!
Assignment
Materials:
Using mixed media- on tagboard
magazines, fabric, paint & found objects
Materials of choice
Concept:
What are the many different pieces that make up what Black excellence is?
Process:
Draw, find images, paint, collect objects, and create a piece inspired by the concept.
Directions:
Brainstorm
Decide on an important figure or event which is meaningful to black history
Decide on a composition/materials
Start on a background or collecting imagery
Add some color or patterned details
Finishing touches and coloring
