Assignment:
Your assignment is to create a print that makes a statement. Your print should have an concept and represent something you care about.
Planning:
Tips for a successful print:
Design should have a focal point. This focal point should take up the majority of the design.
Avoid teeny tiny details. Simplify the image.
There should be no shading or value.
Words need to be drawn mirrored so when they are printed they are straight.
Maximum of 4 colors + white
Colors should be dispersed throughout the piece, not only in one small area.

Process
Transferring your design to the linoleum plate
Directions:
Make sure you have your design finalized on your paper and colored.
Using the carbon transfer paper, draw over your image to transfer it to the plate.

Remember: DO NOT CARVE A COLOR BEFORE YOU HAVE PRINTED IT.
Printing
Pointers:
Work quickly because ink dries out
Don't use too much ink, or two little. If there is texture, that will make it difficult to print the next layers.
Burnish with a baren or use the printing press.
Finishing
Labeling your prints:
Left: number of the edition. For example 1/4 is the first print out of four total.
Middle: Title of the print.
Right: your signature and the date
Remember:
Always sign with something permanent.
Sign the print at the bottom just below the image .
