1 Point Perspective Cubes and Complex Forms 10 points

6 cubes Assignment:

  • Draw a horizon line

  • Draw a vanishing point

  • Draw 6 cubes: 2 above horizon line, 2 below horizon line, 2 on the horizon line using one point perspective.

Adding Complex Forms:

  • Draw boxes on top of or next to other cubes.

  • Cut a hole in one of the cubes.

  • Draw the letter of your first name.

  • Draw a form with an odd angle. Ex. Triangle

1 Point Perspective Room Drawing 10 points

Assignment:

Choose a room to draw. You can draw a room from your house from memory or our classroom.

Use a whole page in your sketchbook.

Choose a space that has details and furniture.

Directions:

  • Draw the horizon line and vanishing point.

  • Draw lines from the vanishing point to the corners of the page.

  • Draw the back wall using horizontal and vertical lines.

  • Begin drawing structural framework such as windows and doors.

  • Draw the furniture and details within the space.

2 Point Perspective Boxes 3 points

Practice drawing boxes in two point perspective.

Draw one box below the horizon line, one on it, and one box above the horizon line.

Create windows on the sides of the box.

2 Point Perspective Street Scene 10 points

Utilizing one page in your sketchbook, draw a street scene in two point perspective.

Your drawing should have multiple buildings.

Your drawing should have details like windows and doors.

Your drawing should have details that are curved.

Summative Assessment

Assignment Requirements:

  • Composition needs to be in either 1 or 2 point perspective.

  • Composition needs to be based on a photograph or multiple reference photos.

  • Drawing should be painted with watercolor paint.

  • You should have a range of values to represent shadows and highlights.

Enlarging Your Image:

Step 1: Calculate your enlargement

-Divide the length of your paper by the length of your picture.

-Divide the height of your paper by the height of your picture.

-Take the smaller of the two numbers and round down to a manageable number on a ruler. Ex. 1.645 to 1.5 or and Inch and a half.

Step 2: Enlarge your picture

-Draw a 1in x 1 in grid on your

-The grid on your paper should be as big as the enlargement you calculated in the previous step. For example; if my enlargement calculation was 1.5, the grid on my paper should be an inch and a half.

-Label both grids with corresponding letters and numbers. Try to label the grid to be centrally located on your paper, we can always trim later.
